Solomon warned in his proverbs that a man without control of his spirit was like a city that is broken down and without walls. In other words he is open to control and destruction.God made man in his own image. God is three in one and man is three in one, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Man is body, spirit and soul. The body part of man is this body that makes us world conscience through the senses, hearing, smelling, seeing, tasting, and feeling. It is the part of us that leads us astray when we yield to its cravings.
Our soul is our life. What makes us unique. Every thing that has happened to us, every decision we have made, every thought we have had and every thing we have experienced. It is the part of us that makes us self conscience.
The spirit part of us is made alive when we open our heart to Jesus and he becomes our savior. We are then able to discern the things of God because they are spiritually discerned. This part of us makes us God conscience. We can and should understand what God wants with us and what he wants to accomplish in our lives.
This should be the strong, controlling part of us. Our spirit should keep the body under control, making the right decisions and developing our soul to conform to the life of the Lord Jesus Christ.Without being in control of our spirit we are open to defeat by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The walls of protection are down and we have no defense. The fiery darts of Satan and his demons will get through and destroy our testimony and our lives (soul).
We are warned in the scriptures that everyone will give account of his life, of what sort it is. If we live our lives for God he will reward us. If we live our life for ourselves we will suffer loss of rewards.
God gives us a choice. He gives us the ability to be over comers. Through the strength of the Holy Spirit that is in us we can resist and be victorious in this life.
Depending on Holy Spirit to strengthen our spirit, to build up the walls of protection, is imperative if we are to hear Jesus say "Well done good and faithful servant".Have you quenched the Spirit in your life? Are you thinking from the spirit or from the flesh? Who are you trying to please with your soul (life) God or yourself?.Brother and sister in Christ build up your walls. Take control of your spirit and let it be in harmony with Holy Spirit. "Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world".
